  • September 12, 2010 – the Giants played their first NFL regular season game in the stadium against the Carolina Panthers, winning 31-18.

  • September 13, 2010 – the Jets played their first game in the stadium on Monday Night Football against the Baltimore Raven, losing 10-9

  • September 11, 2011 – the Jets and the Dallas Cowboys played a commemorative game in honor of the victims of the 9/11 attacks, where the Jets won 27-24.

  • December 24, 2011 – the Giants beat the Jets 29-14 in the biggest regular season match-up between them in recent years.

  • January 8, 2012 – Metlife Stadium hosted its first NFL playoff game, where the Giants beat the Atlanta Falcons 24-2.

  • April 7, 2013 – Wrestlemania 29 was held at MetLife Stadium, the highest-grossing event in WWE history.

  • February 2, 2014 – Metlife Stadium hosted its first Super Bowl, making it the first time that the Super Bowl would be hosted in the New York metropolitan area. The Seattle Seahawk beat the Denver Broncos 43-8.

  • November 23, 2014 – Odell Beckham Jr. famously caught a 43-yard touchdown catch with one hand and has since been called “the best catch of all time”.

  • April 7, 2019 – the stadium hosted Wrestlemania 35, overtaking its previous revenue record.


How Many Seats Are In MetLife Stadium?


MetLife Stadium has one of the highest seating capacities of all the stadiums in the NFL. It can seat 82,500 for sporting events, and 50,000 as a concert venue.


It also has over 200 suites among four levels, which seat up to 24 people per suite. The club seating capacity is over 10,000.


How Do You Get To MetLife Stadium?


There are a few ways to get to MetLife Stadium, and it’s always best to plan the best route for you before you head to the stadium. You can get there by car or by public transport.


By Car


From The George Washington Bridge


Take the George Washington Bridge to the New Jersey Turnpike South. Take the Turnpike’s western spur to one of the Sports Complex’s exits, 16W or 18W. 


From New York City


Take the Lincoln Tunnel and follow signs for Route 3 West. Take Route 3 West to the Sports Complex.


From The New Jersey Turnpike


If you’re traveling north, follow the Western Spur (Sports Complex to Exit 16W), which provides direct access to Sports Complex parking areas.


If you’re traveling south, follow the Western Spur (Meadowlands Complex/Carlstadt to Exit 19W), which provides direct access to Sports Complex parking areas.


From The Garden State Parkway


If you’re traveling north, use Garden State Parkway North to exit 153A (Route 3). Follow Route 3 East to the Sports Complex.


If you’re traveling south, use Garden State Parkway South to exit 163 (Route 17). Follow Route 17 to Paterson Plank Road. Take Paterson Plank Road east to the Sports Complex.


From West I 80


Merge onto I-80 East, continue onto US-46 East, make a slight right at NJ-3 East, and follow signs to the Sports Complex.


From East I 80


Merge onto I-80 West, proceed to Route 17 South to Paterson Plank Road, and follow signs to the Sports Complex.


From West I 78


Take I-78 East (Express) toward Newark, take the exit onto I-95 North, and take Exit 16 W for NJ Route 3 toward Secaucus/Rutherford/Sports Complex.


From NJ Route 24


Take Route 24 East, take I-78 East (Express) toward Newark, take the exit onto I-95 North, and take exit 16 W for NJ Route 3 toward Secaucus/Rutherford/Sports Complex.


By Public Transit


NJ Transit Rail Service

Take the train to Meadowlands Rail Station, a half-mile walk from the stadium. You may need to transfer at Secaucus Junction to get onto the Meadowlands line if you are coming from farther out.


Park And Ride


You can park at the Edison ParkFast parking lot located next to the Frank R. Lautenberg Train Station in Secaucus, NJ (Secaucus Junction) to then get the Meadowlands line to the stadium.


Metro-North


From New York City, take select Metro-North trains from the New Haven line to Grand Central Station, then take the Subway to Penn Station.


From Penn Station, board NJ Transit Train to the Secaucus Line. Transfer onto the Meadowlands line toward the stadium


Where Do I Park When Visiting MetLife Stadium?


For NFL games, parking permits are required for all vehicles. “Gold” permits are for lots B, D, J, K, L, M, P, Deck A, and all lots near American Dream. “Platinum” permits are for lots E, F, and G.

How Much Is Parking At MetLife Stadium?


You can expect to pay $40 for parking at MetLife Stadium. RV and bus parking rates will be about $120 for parking. The lots open up five hours before game time and close two hours after the final whistle.


Where Is Tailgate Parking At MetLife Stadium?


You can tailgate in any parking lot at MetLife Stadium. You will need a parking permit to be able to do this.
